One hundred twenty-one calls for service were handled by the Chillicothe Police Department on Monday. A report of threats was investigated after a crisis hotline reported a caller making statements about obtaining a firearm and harming others. Officers attempted to locate the subject at three residences but were unable to make contact. The investigation remains ongoing.
Police also took two fraud complaints. In one case, a resident reported compromised accounts. In another, a resident received a call from someone claiming to represent a sweepstakes organization and wanting to schedule a home visit. Police identified it as a likely scam and reminded residents not to provide personal or financial information.
An unattended child, believed to be under two years old, was found at a residence on Maple Street. Officers located the parent, and the child was safely released.
Officers also investigated a non-injury traffic accident on Highway 36 west of Mitchell Avenue. Several traffic stops, business checks, vehicle checks and follow-up investigations were also conducted.
