The 2026 Chillicothe boys soccer season is officially underway, and the Hornets got off to a strong start Thursday night at Litton Memorial Stadium with a 2-0 victory over the 2025 Class 1 runner-up Lone Jack Mules.
Chillicothe turned in a strong performance, displaying solid execution and tremendous heart throughout the match.
Josh Ojeaga scored both goals for the Hornets, recording a first-half brace. Mason Walter assisted on the opening goal, while goalkeeper Jesse Hughes provided the assist on Ojeaga’s second goal.
Hughes started in goal during the first half before Mark Rickert took over in the second half. Both goalkeepers played outstanding matches as Chillicothe opened the season with a clean sheet.
The victory puts the Hornets at 1-0 overall and 0-0 in MEC play.
Chillicothe will return to Litton Memorial Stadium Tuesday, September 1, when the Hornets host Cameron. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
