The Chillicothe Lady Hornet volleyball team opened the 2026 season Thursday night with a strong road victory at Lathrop, winning the varsity match in four sets, 25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 25-23.
Chillicothe responded well after dropping the second set, winning the final two sets to secure the season-opening victory.
Clara Fisher led the Lady Hornets offensively with nine kills, followed closely by Mya Oliver with eight. Emmy Lent directed the offense with 21 assists.
Chillicothe also received strong serving performances, with Finley Hansen, Oliver and Fisher each recording four aces.
Defensively, Kendra Epperson, Oliver and Hansen each finished with 12 digs.
The Lady Hornet junior varsity also opened the season with a victory, sweeping Lathrop 25-12, 25-18. The C team played one set because of Lathrop’s limited numbers and won 25-20.
Chillicothe begins the season 1-0 and will look to build on the opening-night performance as they host their first home match Thursday against Trenton.
