Nicholas Earl Searcy, 41, passed away on September 8th, 2026 at his home in Meadville, surrounded by family. He was born to Randall Earl Searcy and Debbie Lynn (Scheib) Danner on May 28th, 1985.
Nicholas Searcy was a man who loved deeply, lived fully, and found some of his greatest happiness outdoors, surrounded by the people he loved.
Nicholas had a lifelong passion for fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. Whether he was sitting beside the water waiting for a bite, heading out for a hunt, or simply enjoying the peace of being outside, those were the places where Nicholas felt at home. But what made those things most meaningful to him was being able to share them with others.
Nicholas was a mentor, teacher, and friend. He loved passing along what he knew, especially to kids and friends who wanted to learn. Whether he was teaching someone how to fish, sharing his knowledge of hunting, helping with sports, or simply offering encouragement, Nicholas had a way of making people feel included and capable. He didn’t just enjoy his passions—he enjoyed giving those passions to others.
He also loved to cook. For Nicholas, cooking was another way to bring people together. Good food, friends, family, laughter, stories, and time spent together were some of life’s greatest pleasures.
Above everything else, Nicholas loved his family and friends. He valued the relationships he built throughout his life and cared deeply for the people around him. His friendships weren’t simply acquaintances—they were bonds built through shared adventures, laughter, loyalty, and countless memories.
The greatest love of Nicholas’s life was his son, Huxton. Being Huxton’s dad was one of the most important and meaningful parts of his life. Nicholas’s love for his son was immeasurable, and the lessons, memories, traditions, and love he gave Huxton will remain a part of him forever.
For the final year of his life, Nicholas faced cancer with tremendous strength and determination. It was a difficult journey that asked more of him than anyone should have to give, but cancer never became the definition of who Nicholas was. He was still a father, outdoorsman, cook, mentor, friend, and someone deeply loved by his family.
Nicholas’s life will be remembered in far more than years. It will be remembered in fishing stories and hunting trips, ball fields and outdoor adventures, meals shared around a table, lessons passed from one person to another, and the friendships he helped build. Most importantly, his legacy will continue through Huxton and through everyone fortunate enough to have learned from him, laughed with him, loved him, and called him a friend.
Though his year-long fight with cancer has ended, the impact Nicholas made during his life has not.
Every time someone takes a kid fishing, teaches them something new, heads into the woods for a hunt, gathers friends around a meal, or takes the time to mentor someone who needs them, a little piece of Nicholas’s spirit will continue on.
He was deeply loved, he will be greatly missed, and he will never be forgotten.
Nicholas was survived by his son, Huxton Lee Searcy; his significant other, Mary Staton and her children Clayton Kepner, Jacob Bartz, Alexis Bartz, & Lucas Nickell; his mother & step-father, Debbie & Gilbert Danner, Jr. His step-grandparents, Joyce Cole, and Gilbert, Sr. & Rosie Danner; His siblings, Misty & Doug Arr, Randie Ann & Nate Curl, Kaleb & Kim Danner, Shandie Searcy & significant other Tayvien Helm, and Tyler Danner & his significant other Shauna Grimm; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Nicholas was preceded in passing by his father, Randall Searcy; his sister Beth Danner; his paternal grandparents, Gerald & Maxine Searcy; his maternal grandparents, Raymond & Norma Scheib; his uncles, Roger Searcy, Larry Scheib, & Dale Danner; and his aunts, Debra Ann Scheib & Pam Danner; And step-grandfather, John Cole.
Visitation for Nicholas Earl Searcy will be held at Cornerstone Church in Chillicothe on Sunday, September 13th, 2026 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Services will held at Cornerstone Church the following day, Monday, September 14th, 2026 at 10:00am, with burial to follow at Haseville Cemetery.
