NCMC Receives $1.5 M Talent Search Grant

A $1.5 million federal grant has been awarded to North Central Missouri College to continue its TRIO Talent Search program.  The renewed grant includes $300,000 annually over five years to help low-income and first-generation students prepare for, enroll in, and succeed in higher education.

This program identifies and assists students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in college.

This grant will serve 600 students in the St. Joseph School District, providing students in grades 6 through 12 with college and career planning, financial literacy education, academic advising, tutoring, career exploration, study and test-taking skills, and STEM and artificial intelligence instruction.

Dr. Mitch Holder, Dean of Instruction, said, “TRIO programs are a direct investment in students and their futures by providing educationally based experiences.”
