Livingston County Health Center has made a change in how they are reporting the number of cases of COVID-19 in the County. Public Information Supervisor, Ann Burchett says moving forward, the Health Center’s count will reflect county residents who have tested positive, but NOT inmates at the Chillicothe Correctional Center who have received positive notification.
Any correctional center workers who live in Livingston County and test positive will be accounted for in the Health Center count.
After removing previous inmate cases that had been included in the count, the NEW total case count is 25 positives. That includes 8 active cases and 17 released from isolation. Those released from isolation have met criteria according to CDC guidance and can return to normal activities. They are considered unable to spread the virus.
As the count of positive cases in Livingston County increases, the health center urges the public to continue to be vigilant in taking appropriate precautions including good hygiene, social distancing, wearing a mask in public places and limiting in-person interactions. If you are sick, particularly with a fever and a cough, or shortness of breath, stay home and contact your health care provider or urgent care center for guidance regarding symptoms and next steps.
