The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department is getting closer to full strength. Sheriff Steve Cox says they welcome two deputies assigned to road patrol duties.
He says the first is Martin Minnis, who grew up in Chillicothe. In 2017 Minnis graduated from the Missouri Sheriffs’ Training Academy and received his P.O.S.T license to be a peace officer in Missouri. He is also a member of the Missouri Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer. Cox says Minnis has attended specialized training in Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement and is very passionate on keeping the public safe from drunk and/or drugged drivers.
Jordan Williams comes to Livingston County from Billings. Missouri. Deputy Williams graduated the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association Training Academy and received his Missouri P.O.S.T. license to become a peace officer in 2017. Deputy Williams began working as a police officer for the City of Billings
Cox says they will continue with training for the next month or so.
Cox says it is also important for the deputies to be able to identify where they need to go by reference to land marks and common names of places when an actual address is not available, and that is part of the training.
