When the City of Chillicothe and many other cities in Missouri receive complaints of code violations, they try to follow a process to resolve them. That will start with contacting the property owned and requesting they comply with the city codes. Chillicothe City Administrator Darin Chappell says if that course fails, they begin having problems.
Chappell says the only option still available is filing suit to condemn the property.
He says this is not a “Chillicothe Problem,” it is a State of Missouri problem.
Chappell says the City of Chillicothe will continue to work on resolving the “codes” issues, but some of the resolutions may take considerable time.
