The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Softball team won their 10th straight game and improved to 5-0 in Conference play with a convincing 16-1 win at St Pius X.
Chillicothe scored three in the first inning, 12 in the second inning including ten runs with two outs. Each team scored one in the third inning, giving Chillicothe the win thanks to Softball’s 15 run mercy rule.
The Lady Hornets had ten hits, all singles except for one double.
Sophia Luetticke had a double and single, Mika Hibner and Halle Rucker each had two singles and one each for Hope Helton, Kirsten Dunn, Jolie Bonderer and Brooke Horton.
Halle Rucker pitched the first inning and Mollie Ellis the final two innings. They allowed one run off four hits with five strike outs and one walk.
Coach Lee Rucker said St Pius’s pitcher struggled to find the strike zone at times. He said when the pitcher did, the Lady hornets did a good job of hitting.
The Lady Hornets benefited from 11 walks in the game.
