A motorcycle accident Saturday in Caldwell County left an Ackley, Iowa man with serious injuries. State Troopers report 80-year-old Thomas Wiarda of Ackley was taken to Liberty Hospital for treatment following the accident on Highway 13, just north of Polo. According to the report, Wiarda was northbound and slowed for traffic when another motorcycle, driven by 72-year-old Janice Tersehn of Aplington, Iowa, ran into the back of the trailer towed by Wiarda. Wiarda was ejected from his bike. He was not wearing a helmet. Tersehn was not injured.
