Florida Man Arrested After Fleeing Chillicothe Officers

A Florida man was arrested Thursday night after a chase that started as a traffic stop in the 1000 block of South Washington in Chillicothe.  The incident began at about 11:50 pm.  As the officer approached the driver, the man sped off, nearly striking the officer.

The man fled east on US 36, at speeds, that at times were over 100 miles per hour.  As the vehicle entered the Brookfield area, Brookfield Police used spike strips, which slowly deflated the tires on the vehicle.  The driver stopped the vehicle which was operating on rims.  The driver surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

The man faces charges of alleged excessive speed, felony driving while revoked, felony assault on a law enforcement officer, felony resisting arrest by fleeing, and Driving While Intoxicated.  He was transported to the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail and held pending the filing of formal charges.

Chillicothe Police were assisted by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department and Brookfield Police Department.
