7th Grade Hornets Football Battles To The End

The Chillicothe 7th grade football team had a strong running game, but came up short in a 24-16 loss to Cameron
Chillicothe scored first on a 40 yard Henry Hurtgen run with a Cooper Robinson two point conversion. Cameron answered with a score to tie the game.
Cameron scored again in the third to lead 16 – 8. Chillicothe responded with a Mark Dickerson 40 yard touchdown run and a Hurtgen two point conversion.
Cameron scored in the middle of the fourth. Chillicothe just missed on what Coach Reid Stephens called a “Hail Mary” from Cooper Robinson to Mark Dickerson.
Stephens said the Hornets finished with over 250 yards rushing, just one penalty of five yards and no fumbles or interceptions.
He said he was pleased with the team’s execution and physical play on offense.
However, he stated his team needs to be more aggressive on defense.
Next up for the team is a trip to Maryville next Tuesday.
