One of Chillicothe High School’s most successful Softball teams was honored at their post-season banquet last night.
The Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball team was conference champion, district champion and finished second in the State tournament.
Coach Lee Rucker said one of best things about the season was the respect the team received from opposing players and coaches, not only for their athletic skills but also for their sportsmanship and love of the game the players demonstrated.
Coach Rucker stressed the team aspect of the game and did not give out individual awards, but did recognize the abundance of team records set in the season. Their were 15 team records set and 27 entries in the 12 top-5 player records categories, plus one pitching record set.
In addition to recognizing previously announced all conference, district, regional and state awards, Rucker also recognized two players named to the National Federation of Fast Pitch Softball Coaches Association regional award winners, covering all high schools in a four-state area. Sophia Luetticke and Kinlei Boley were both named to the Second Team.
The Softball team will graduate four seniors.
