The Chillicothe Hornets had two key baskets late in the game in a 46 to 43 conference win at St Joseph Benton’s Courtwarming Game. The Hornets had a go-ahead basket from James Mathew with 35 seconds left, then iced the game with a Wyatt Brandsgaard basket with a few seconds to go.
Hornets Coach Tim Cool said this was a big win for his team.
Landon Winder went 4 for 4 from three point range in the first quarter and went on to finish five of nine for 15 points. Griff Bonderer had 13 points, James Mathew, Jackson Trout and Wyatt Brandsgaard had six points each.
Chillicothe improves to 13-5 and 3-0 in MEC play while Benton falls to 13-8 overall and 1-1 in MEC play.
