Fire destroyed two buildings and damaged another in downtown Brookfield. The fire department responded Wednesday morning to the fire at 305 North Main Street. They requested mutual aide from Chillicothe, who responded with their larger aerial truck and three personnel. Chillicothe Fire Chief Eric Reeter says they arrived at about 9:00 am and by the time they left at 5:30 pm, his department had pumped more than 300,000 gallons of water into the fire. That does not include the water used by the Brookfield firefighters.
The Brookfield Fire chief called in excavation equipment to tear down the unsafe structure. The State Fire Marshall is also called to the scene.
