On Tuesday night, the Lady Hornets took the pitch at Savannah High School.
Head Coach Jimmy Chapman mentioned in his post-game comments that he was particularly careful in his game planning for Savannah’s Corrine Stewart, “She’s a special player, probably the best 1v1 player in the conference in terms of being able to dribble around players”.
Lucy Reeter got the scoring started early for the Lady Hornets. In the 11th minute, she took a feed from Essie Hicks and found pay dirt.
The caution that Chapman took into the game was warranted, because in the 18th minute, Stewart was able to tie the game up with an unassisted strike. The game remained 1-1 through the half.
In the second half, Sophia Luetticke gave Chillicothe a 2-1 advantage when she scored off a Juliann Gabrielson assist in the 58th minute.
Then in he 66th minute, Lucy Reeter continued her run of multi-goal games by sinking her second goal of the game with off a Delanie Kieffer pass. The Lady Hornets took a 3-1 lead and never looked back.
Allie Italiano had three saves in the game.
Chapman spoke highly of his teams’ effort to limit the Savannah star, Stewart, “Girls played a great game. Came out with a lot of energy and put some stuff together. Outside of a slip on defense our defense held Savannah to very little and didn’t allow Corrine Stewart too much service,” said Chapman.
