Grand River Technical School has 18 Missouri State Champions with 12 State Champions headed to SkillsUSA National Competitions this summer in Atlanta Georgia. The School’s SkillsUSA chapter spent the past week at Linn State Technical College, bringing home 37 Gold, Silver, and Bronze STATE medals. Students and teams headed to the national finals include:
Gold Medal State Championship, the sophomore Industrial Engineering team of Zane Daley, Dereck Dush, and Heidi Gault swept the competition with their Engineering Weather Stoplight. All 3 of these students are from Chillicothe High School.
Allee Hein won the SkillsUSA state competition in Health Occupations Professional Portfolio.
Wyatt Skipper brought home 2 Gold Medals and will be representing Missouri in Information Technology Services.
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies Team of 7 also earned a Gold and the title of State Champions for the State of Missouri. The team of all juniors includes Hamilton student Lacee Abner and CHS students Nevaeh Kline, Abby Holder, Briana Anderson, Kirsten Scott, Ariana Brown and Raegan May.
In addition, Taylor Leakey was selected to sing the national anthem. Taylor is a Junior from Braymer.
The state championships took place on April 7-9. Top student winners received gold, silver and bronze medallions. Many also received prizes such as tools of their trade and scholarships to further their careers and education.
