Dewey Elementary School is a 2022 National Blue Ribbon School. The announcement was made to the students and staff at the school Friday morning during an assembly. (Video Below) Principal Melanie Rucker says they heard they were nominated last year.
Rucker talked about what the award means to the school and to her.
Superintendent Dr Dan Wiebers considers this an honor for all involved.
The award is based on the testing data from 2020/21 school year and verified with a review of the testing data at the end of 2021/22. The award is in the category of Exemplary High Performing Schools.
Mrs Rucker and some staff members will travel to Washington DC for a gala to celebrate the winning schools.
