The Chillicothe Fire Department responded to two vehicle fire calls Thursday.
At about 1:20 pm, a vehicle fire was reported in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Graves Street. The fire crew arrived in two minutes to find an SUV with fire coming from under the hood and dash areas. About 750 gallons of water and foam were used to extinguish the fire. The SUV owned by Ashley Chadwick of Mooresville was a total loss. The fire crew was on the scene for just over an hour.
At about 3:53 pm, the fire department was called to a vehicle fire on US 65, just south of the Avalon Junction. The fire crew arrived in 10 minutes to find the vehicle on the west side of the road and fully engulfed in flames. The Hale/Avalon arrived to assist. Seven hundred gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire. The fire crews were on the scene for 23 minutes. The vehicle owned by Nicole Bader of Carrollton was a total loss. No injuries were reported.
