The Chillicothe Mudcats are preparing for another summer of MINK League baseball at Shaffer Park. The summer collegiate baseball league will begin the season on Tuesday May 28th featuring the Mudcats as the road team in the season opener against the Carroll (IA) Merchants.
The Mudcats went 23-22 last season, 22-22 in the MINK, narrowly missing the playoffs. Jefferson City is the defending champions as they defeated the St. Joseph Mustangs in a best of three series to claim the 2023 title.
The MINK will be down to just eight teams this season as Joplin is no longer a member of the league. There will be no divisions this year, as previously the league was divided into a north and south, instead the six teams with the best record will qualify for the postseason with the top two teams receiving a bye.
The Mudcats first home game will be Thursday May 30th at Shaffer Park against Carroll, and the season will run through the end of July. You can listen to all the Chillicothe Mudcats games with Matt Clark all summer long on KCHI.
