IRS Reminder For Extension Deadline

Taxpayers who requested an extension of time to file their federal tax return have until October 15th to complete and file their return. The IRS says those who already have the forms and information they need should file as soon as possible as there’s no advantage to waiting until the deadline.

The IRS has made a few recommendations.

File by the deadline of Monday, October 15th, unless you qualify under disaster situations for additional time to file.

Many taxpayers can e-file their tax returns for free through the IRS Free File program on IRS.gov.

Tax professionals remain ready to help their clients get their taxes completed and filed as quickly as possible.

In-person help is availableIRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers operate by appointment only.  Call 844-545-5640 to schedule an appointment.

Free local tax preparation could be available.  Many Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs still offer free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals.
