Surfire Henley, age 76, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.

 

Surfire was born the daughter of Jewell Laverne and Viola Bell (Drew) Thompson on September 16, 1948 in Kennett, Missouri. She was a graduate of Hayti High School, Hayti, Missouri. After graduating high school, she graduated from college at the School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Missouri, with degrees in music, education and business. She was united in marriage to James Henley on May 24, 1970, in Point Lookout, Missouri.

 

Surfire held various accounting positions before she and James moved to Chillicothe, Missouri in 1980. She was an IRS Agent for the area, but decided she preferred to work for the people instead. In 1983, she and Jim started Triple H Accounting from her home, eventually purchasing the building on Polk Street where she worked up until a month before her passing. She was a member of several business organizations, including the Association of Enrolled Agents, Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce and the Grand River YMCA. She enjoyed reading in the car while going on various trips with Jim.  Surfire loved butterflies, swimming, crocheting and helping others. She was also an avid Harry Potter fan and an advocate of women’s rights.  A passion of hers was saving money, and she was very good at it.

 

Survivors include her husband Jim; one son, James Timothy Henley and wife, Jill of Mineral, Virginia; two grandchildren, Kathleen Gregory and husband, Cameron, and Kerriann Risenhoover and husband, Michael; one brother, David Thompson and wife, Donna;  and one sister, Jacquline Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Revola (Thompson) Jacobs.

 

A Memorial service will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Forrest O. Triplett Animal Shelter and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
