Jimmy U. Lowe, age 89, joined his beloved wife, Donna Sue, in eternal peace on October 10, 2024. Jim was a devout and beloved husband, father, brother, son, grandfather and friend. He lived a life defined by unwavering faith, compassion, and adored his wife, Donna Sue.

 

Jim was born to the late Wilmer Lowe and Kathryn Utter on August 6, 1935 in Wheeling, Missouri. Jim married his best friend, Donna Sue Head, on June 2, 1956 at the Wheeling First Baptist Church in Wheeling, Missouri. Together Jim and Donna raised four wonderful children.

 

Jim was a 1953 graduate of Wheeling High School. Jim was a devoted farmer and skilled construction operator. He enjoyed being involved with the City of Wheeling and served as the mayor for several years. Together Jim and Donna cherished the nights spent square dancing and playing cards with their beloved friends. Jim will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.

 

Jim was survived by his son James C. Lowe of Wheeling, children Matt Lowe and Kimberly Ficken (AJ); daughter Susan and Joe Tate of Chillicothe, Missouri, children Chelsi Mendenhall (Mark) and Zachary Tate (Tosha); son Lyle and Linda Lowe of Wheeling, Missouri, children Rachael Parkey (Chris), Randie Vasso (Chris) and Seth Lowe (Paige); and son Doug and Nenia Lowe of Wheeling, Missouri, children Megan (Matthew) Ridgley, Scott (Jenny) Lowe, Cody (Alyssa) Lowe, Mallory (Benjamin) Gatson, Cory Lowe, and Caleb Lowe. Jim is survived by 30 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

 

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Sue (Head) Lowe, father, Wilmer Lowe; mother Kathryn (Utter) Lowe; brother, Robert Lowe; sister, Kathleen (Lowe) Limkeman; brother, Lawrence Lowe; brother, Marshall Lowe; father-in-law, Ralph Head; mother-in-law, Tressie (Brobst) Head; and grandson (Stanley) Curtis Lowe.

 

Services will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Wheeling First Baptist Church. Visitation will start at 10:00 am and the funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wheeling First Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home.
