The Chillicothe Lady Hornets basketball team faced their toughest test of the season thus far on Tuesday night facing the Macon Tigerettes. Chillicothe entered the contest with 6 wins and 0 losses on the season, but found themselves trailing at the end of the first quarter. It was the first time all season the Lady Hornets have been behind at the end of a quarter.
Chillicothe pulled ahead to lead 19-11 at halftime thanks to a strong start from Lyla Beetsma with 5 points and 4 assists in the first half. Macon continued to show resilience, cutting the deficit to just five entering the 4th quarter. The score was 37-31 when senior Liz Oliver stepped up to make two crucial, back-to-back, three-pointers and double the Lady Hornets lead. Chillicothe ultimately closed out Macon and in their closest margin of victory yet this season, remained undefeated at 7-0 with a victory at home by score of 48 to 35.
