Hornets Come From Behind for 12 Courts of Christmas OT Win

The Chillicothe Hornets boys basketball team took on Lexington at Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City on Saturday night in the 12 Courts of Christmas Event. The Hornets entered the contest with 5 wins and 3 losses on the season while the Lexington Minutemen came in at 6-1.

The Minutemen wasted no time attacking from the opening tip, scoring the first seven points of the game. Lexington held a three point lead at the end of the first quarter and were up 23-19 at halftime as Chillicothe struggled with turnovers in the early going.

“It was a tale of two halves,” said Coach Tim Cool, following the game. The Hornets head coach was much more pleased with his teams 2nd half effort as Chillicothe took the lead in the late stages of the 4th quarter. Ahead 48-45 with under 10 seconds to go, Lexington’s Demario Moss hit his 5th 3-pointer on the night to tie the score up and send the game into overtime.

Chillicothe turned the tables on Lexington in the extra period, as this time it was the Hornets turn to score the first 7 points after tip-off. Chillicothe outplayed Lexington in overtime behind senior guard Sol’jier Allen who finished with a team high 16 points. Chillicothe’s 58-52 overtime victory improves the Hornets to 6-3 on the season.
