Hornets Track & Field Begins Season With Success At Home Time trials

The Chillicothe Hornets track and field team hosted a six school time trial meet to begin the season on Tuesday. While no official team score was compiled, several Chillicothe athletes performed well against against Carrollton, Lafayette County, Penney, Princeton and South Harrison.

 

On the girls side, Lexy Smith was first in the 200 meters with a 28.54. While Lydia Bonderer was 2nd in the 800, running a 2:39, and Bryleigh Gillespie finished 3rd in the 100 hurdles. The Lady Hornets dominated the field events, taking the top spot in five of six: Ayana Johnson in long jump, Mya Oliver in triple jump, Emerson Staton in discus and shot put, along with Vyctoria Stoner in javelin.

 

The Chillicothe Hornets boys team was all over the podium. The Hornets ran 1-2-3 in the 100 with Silas Midgyett, Logan Murrell and Henry Hurtgen. Cain Evans was first in both the 1600 and 3200. Brennan Fitzpatrick finished first in the 400 while Ezra Leppin was 3rd. Fitzpatrick was also top three in the 200, placing 3rd just behind Soljier Allen who ran 2nd. Jace Collins was 2nd place in the 800 for Chillicothe, while Landen Longo was also 2nd in the 110 hurdles.

 

In the boys field events, Lake Englert had the highest pole vault, while Midgyett had the 2nd longest shot put and discus throw. Jayden Martin placed 2nd in javelin and Brennan Fitzpatrick was 2nd in triple jump.
