April 8th Linn County Ballot Questions

The Linn County ballot for the April 8th municipal election includes races for the area school boards, city and town councils, and elected offices in the communities.  There are also three Ballot questions…

For the Brookfield School District, voters are asked:  Shall the School Board of Brookfield R-III School District, without an estimated increase in the current debt service property tax levy, borrow money in the amount of Three Million Nine Hundred Thousand Dollars to provide funds to replace and update the current track and field facility; upgrade HVAC systems and replace student lockers District-wide; enhance the existing Elementary School playground and to the extent funds are available, complete other repairs and improvements to the existing facilities of the District; and to issue general obligation bonds for the payment of the proposal?  If approved, the adjusted debt service levy of the School District would remain unchanged at $0.6600 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.

Meadville School District is asking voters to consider Proposition Meadville School C.A.R.E.:  Shall the Meadville R-IV School Board, without an estimated increase in the current debt service property tax levy, borrow One point two Million Dollars to provide funds to complete parking lot and tennis court resurfacing and upgrades; to improve student safety by reconfiguring the drop off/pick up areas;  and to the extent funds are available, complete other repairs and improvements to the existing facilities of the District, and issue general obligation bonds for the payment of the proposal? If approved, the adjusted debt service levy of the School District would remain unchanged at $1.0500 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.

The City of Laclede asks voters to consider Proposition – General Sales Tax.  They are asking voters, shall the city be authorized to impose a general sales tax of one percent (1%) to be used for the general fund of the City for uses such as street repairs and improvements, parks, facility repairs, and equipment improvements?
