Municipal Election – Caldwell County Ballot Questions

The April 8th Municipal Election in Caldwell County will include several ballot questions.

Caldwell County asks to continue a countywide Capital Improvement Sales Tax of ½ of 1% to fund the purchase of gravel for roads in the county and townships. The tax is for a period of four years.

Shall the City of Polo issue general obligation bonds of $285,000 to acquire rights of way and constructing, reconstructing, renovating, extending and improving streets, roads and sidewalks, including but not limited to related sewer lines, curbs, gutters, drainage utilities and other utilities?

Several Townships are asking to continue a special gravel tax of 35 cents per $100 valuation for a period of four years.  They include; Fairview, Mirabile, Rockford, and Gomer Townships.

Voters in the Cameron R-1 School District are asked to consider Proposition B.E.S.T.  Which asks, Shall the school district, without an estimated increase in the current debt service property tax levy to borrow $8 million for the purpose of providing funds to replace the Parkview Elementary roof; to construct, equip, furnish, and renovate high school classrooms; to demolish the current south wing of the high school building; to construct, equip, and furnish a maintenance shed/facility; to the extent funds are available to complete other repairs and improvements to the existing facilities in the district.  And issue general obligation bonds for the payment.  If approved, the debt service tax levy for the district would remain unchanged at 99 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
