The three-vehicle crash south of Chillicothe on Wednesday morning, which left four with serious injuries, has now taken the life of the youngest passenger. The Missouri Highway Patrol announced the infant child, who suffered serious injuries and was flown to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, died Friday night of her injuries.
The crash occurred Wednesday morning on US 65, south of Chillicothe, as southbound traffic, including a vehicle driven by a 38-year-old woman from Danville, KY, was stopped for construction. Troopers report a 51-year-old Chillicothe woman was southbound and ran into the back of the vehicle from Kentucky. The crash left the infant child and a one-year-old girl from Stanford, KY, with serious injuries. They were both flown to Children’s Mercy; they had been properly restrained. A woman from Stanford was flown to Truman Medical Center with serious injuries, and a 30-year-old man from Stanford was treated for moderate injuries at Hedrick Medical Center; they were not wearing safety belts.
A passenger in the Chillicothe vehicle, a 26-year-old woman from Chillicothe, was wearing a safety belt and had serious injuries. She was taken to St. Luke’s in Kansas City for treatment.
