Marshall was born the son of Russell and Hattie Mae (Hawkins) Dusenberry on October 29, 1944 in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a 1962 graduate of Chillicothe High School. He enlisted in the Army National Guard where he proudly served his country from 1965 through 1971. Marshall was known as a printer. On July 3, 1966, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Boley at the First Presbyterian Church in Chillicothe, Missouri.
Marshall had the privilege of living at the same address his entire life. However, he did move out briefly while he and Mary rebuilt the residence. He took pleasure in caring for the home, mowing the yard and tending to the landscaping.
