Police Warn Of Postcard Scam

A scam using postcards received in your mailbox has been reported to the Chillicothe Police Department.

Police report that the scam is circulating in the community in the form of blue postcards.  Scammers are sending letters or postcards titled, “Important Notice: Immediate Response Needed.”

You need to be aware this is a phishing scam and the scammers are out to gain access to your loan information.

The postcards appear as they are sent from the mortgage holder or insurance company and look official.  Specific information about your mortgage will be printed on the card.

The fine print at the bottom states “Mortgage Services Group LL., and a phone number. Not affiliated with, sponsored by, and loan information not provided by your current lender.” A different number is also provided in the main body of the postcard.

Officers report a simple Google search on the phone number returns several pages of complaints.

If you find one of these postcards in your mail, the best thing is to first confirm the fine print… then throw it away and don’t call the phone numbers.  If you do wish to check it out, contact your mortgage company or insurance carrier directly.
