City Council Hears Proposed Changes In Fees For Street Cuts and Digging

An ordinance to increase fees for street cuts and holes dug in streets was discussed by the Chillicothe City Council.  Codes Officer Gil Gates says the filing fee for digging permits is insufficient.  The fee includes a refundable deposit as an incentive to make the repairs to the street in a timely manner,

The current $500 fee won’t cover the cost of fixing the holes.

A higher rate is proposed for companies making multiple cuts that will require repairs.

The ordinance revisions were presented for discussion only.  The council will consider approving the revisions at a later meeting,
