Ambulance District Lift Policy

A new policy for the Livingston County Ambulance District was approved at their board meeting.  The ambulance crews are called fairly regularly to assist individuals who have fallen or are otherwise unable to get themselves up.  While most use this service only when needed, they are finding some individuals are abusing the service, taking Chillicothe Emergency Services personnel away from other responsibilities.

The new policy will affect those who use the service frequently.  Fire Chief Eric Reeter says under the new policy, you will not be charged for the first three lift assist calls in a month, but on the fourth and each additional call that month, you will be billed $100.

He says failure to pay could result in refusing to respond to future lift assist calls for that individual.
