Annual Kids Fishing Derby

The North Missouri Sportman’s Alliance (NMSA) and the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host their annual free Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 7, at the large pond located on the west side of the Legacy Living facility, formerly known as the Baptist Home, in north Chillicothe.

The Kids Fishing Derby will be held from 8:30 am to  Noon, with registration beginning at 8:00 am, and is for children 15 and under.  The pond is located just east of Highway 65, north of the hospital.  As kids register, they will receive some free fishing tackle, and their name will automatically be placed in the drawing for additional free fishing gear at the end of the fishing derby.

Two additional organizations will be part of the event this year.

The Short Grass chapter of Quail Forever and members of the Livingston County Veterans Association (LICOVA).

The MDC will again be providing fishing tackle and live bait for those kids without tackle, as well as fishing assistance. The various organizations helping with the event will also be providing assistance to the young anglers.
