Chillicothe City Council Actions

The Chillicothe City Council met Monday at City Hall. The Chillicothe City Council meeting included an appointment and the approval of several items presented to the council in regular session.

Mayor Theresa Kelly presented Mike Merrill for appointment to the Airport Advisory Board. He also serves on the Railroad Board.

The council approved a supplemental agreement for engineering services for the Airport Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS). The council approved the agreement with H.W. Lochner. Work on the AWOS installation will begin with site preparations this fall and winter, with the system installation in the spring.

The Council approved the Airport’s request for underwing camping, but will require hold harmless agreements to be signed.
There was also a request to allow subleasing of hangar spaces at the at the airport. Contract language will be revised and brought back to the council for approval.

Purchasing the equipment needed to outfit two new Chillicothe Police vehicles was approved by the City Council. The bid was awarded to Toys For Truck in Cameron for $18,080 per vehicle. This includes items to be added to the vehicle, such as lighting, safety devices, mounts and fixtures inside the vehicle, and the decals required. The bid includes installation.

Other items approved by the Chillicothe City Council include:

A list of items to be declared surplus. The items are from the old Police Department, City Hall, Street Department, and the Airport.

The city-owned locomotive was sold to the high bidder for $20,000. The 1952 GM Electro-Motive Locomotive received three bids. One was withdrawn. The bid was awarded to Motive Rail, the operator of the city-owned railroad.

Mary Lou Vandeventer provided information from the Chillicothe Area Arts Council. Following discussions, the council released funding of $5,000 to support the activities of the Arts Council.
