A member of the Chillicothe City Hall staff resigned after irregularities in its account records were found. City officials made the announcement, saying there was apparent misuse of City funds, in an amount that appears to be under $10,000.
When the situation was found, the City engaged its outside auditor, Conrad and Higgins, to investigate the situation. The City also contacted its insurance carrier.
As advised by the outside auditor, new procedures have been put in place to prevent any such similar misconduct in the future.
Chillicothe Police have filed a probable cause statement on the incident with the Livingston County Prosecutor, in consideration of charges.
