CMU Changing Lime Handling Process

Chillicothe Municipal Utilities is changing the process of disposing of lime from the softening of water distributed to the homes and businesses in the community.CMU General Manager Matt Hopper explained the current process.

Stored in ponds and later spread it on fields.

Hopper says they are beginning work to change that process.  Bids were accepted to create drying beds for the water plant.

Pumped from the pond to the drying beds.  The dried lime would be available to farmers.

Work on the drying beds should begin soon.
