Corn & Soybean Harvest

Harvest season has begun for some corn growers in Livingston County.  Livingston County Farm Service Agency Director Raysha Tate says where the producers could get the crop in earlier, the corn is ready.

Earlier planting in the southern part of the county means earlier harvest.

They have had no harvest reports, but the forecast yield is above normal at about 175 bushels per acre.

Tate says Soybean producers could be also in the field soon, depending on the moisture levels and field conditions.

Could see early plantings harvested soon as plants are starting to turn and drop leaves.

The forecast for soybeans is 45 bushels per acre, also a bit above normal.

While harvest is beginning, Tate says grazing pastures could use some rain to help them along into November.
