Fire Damages Home On south Shagbark

Chillicothe firefighters were on the scene of a house fire at 899 South Shagbark Sunday night.  The call came in at about 8:28 pm, and they arrived on scene in about 5 minutes to find smoke coming from the home, and fire could be seen in the basement.  Everyone was out of the home on arrival.

Mutual aid was requested from Wheeling, Green Township, and Mooresville fire departments, providing tankers and personnel.

Fire was contained to the basement, and fans were used to remove smoke from other areas of the home.

The fire was extinguished firefighters returned to their stations around 12:15 am, after being on scene for about 3 hours 45 minutes.  About 4500 gallons of water was used to put out the fire.

Possible electric problems were identified as a possible cause of the fire.
