A report of smoke at a bank in downtown Chillicothe summoned firefighters Thursday afternoon. The call came in at 1:51 pm and the firefighters arrived in one minute, finding no smoke from the outside and none on the first floor. They were shown to the second floor, where a haze was found and the smell of smoke was present. The crew checked vents and eventually located the source – the microwave.
An electrician was called to check the wiring, and it was found that the transformer had blown. The unit was removed and crews continued checking, but found no other source of the smoke smell. They were on the scene for 26 minutes.
