Johnson Charged With Stealing From The City Of Chillicothe

The former Chillicothe Assistant City Clerk, 44-year-old Kaleena Rae Johnson of Mooresville, has been charged in Livingston County Court with alleged Stealing, following an investigation by the Chillicothe Police Department. The Probable Cause Statement indicates the stealing was taking place from March 1st of 2024 to March 31st of 2026. The outside auditor documented $6,309 in missing funds in that period.

Johnson has been on FMLA leave and was asked to come to the Police Department, where she was questioned about the missing money. Johnson admitted to taking the funds because she “needed money for medical bills, and that she planned to pay it back.”

Johnson was released following the questioning due to a serious medical condition.

A warrant for her arrest has been issued and served.  The warrant includes a cash-only bond set at $50,000.
