A Linn County couple has been charged in Linn County Court for an incident in June that resulted in the death of a child.
19-year-old Jessica E. Loucks of Brookfield and 23-year-old Kullen McElhaney of Bucklin are charged with alleged abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death and child endangerment resulting in death. They are also charged with alleged abuse or neglect of a child resulting in serious emotional or physical injury and child endangerment resulting in serious physical injury.
According to the probable cause statement, on June 5th, deputies were called to the home in Bucklin for an infant girl not breathing. The infant’s father reported the child had been dropped.
The girl’s twin, an infant boy, was removed from the home and was examined, finding broken bones and injuries “consistent with physical abuse.”
The cause of death for the infant girl was determined to be “Blunt Trauma.”
Warrants were issued on Monday, after charges were filed. Bond for each is set at $100,000 cash only.
