Missouri’s Sunshine Law – Open Meetings – Open Records

What is Missouri’s Sunshine Law and why does it matter?

Missouri Sunshine Law keeps government records and meetings open and accessible to the general public and media.   The Sunshine law is what makes it possible to attend the meetings held by publicly elected organizations and boards appointed by those organizations.  This can include City Councils, School Boards, Health Center Boards, etc…

It also makes information available to the public, including the reports of activity by law enforcement and the courts.

The Sunshine Law ensures government transparency.  It allows you to request and receive public records, attend meetings, and view the minutes of the meetings.

To find out more about the Missouri Sunshine Law, go to the Attorney General’s Office of Missouri website.  A link can be found here.
