Municipal Election – Chariton County Ballot Questions

The April 8th Ballot for Chariton County includes several ballot questions.  These include:

Shall the Keytesville Fire Protection District of Chariton County be authorized to increase the annual tax rate from 20 cents to 30 cents per $100 assessed valuation?

Shall the City of Brunswick be authorized to forego annual elections if the number of candidates who have filed for a particular office is equal to the number of positions to be filled by the election?

Shall the City of Sumner impose a tax levy of 25 cents per 100 dollars assessed valuation for street maintenance for a period of three years?

Several townships are asking voters to maintain a special road and bridge tax for a period of four years.  They include:

  • Brunswick Township at 23.44 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
  • Chariton Township at 15.46 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
  • Cunningham Township at 24.88 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
  • Salt Creek Township at 33.07 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
  • Triplett Township at 30.75 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
  • Wayland Township at 22.30 cents per $100 assessed valuation.

Clark Township is asking voters to raise their special road and bridge tax from 33.73 cents to 35 cents per $100 assessed valuation for a period of four years.

Clark Township is asking voters to raise their permanent road and bridge tax from 47.85 cents to 50 cents per $100 assessed valuation for a period of four years.

Two townships are asking voters to continue an additional tax rate for a period of four years.  They include:

  • Mendon Township at 34.06 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
  • Musselfork Township at 20.84 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
