A detainee at the Chillicothe Correction Center died Monday afternoon. The Missouri Department of Correction reports 67-year-old Joyce Burgess was serving a 15-year sentence for second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Burgess had been taken to Hedrick Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be conducted.
