Progressive Agriculture Safety Day

A Progressive Agriculture Safety Day, sponsored by the Livingston County Health Center, will be held September 19th at the Litton Agri-Science Center. Community HealthWorker Cathy Ripley says “Our hope is that the students take away at least one thing that can help keep them safer in their day-to-day lives, and to pass on what they learned to their friends, parents and other loved ones.”

Ripley says 340 students from the area schools in grades 3-5 are registered to participate in the event.  She says homeschoolers in grades 3-5 who would like to attend can contact the health center at 660-646-5506.

She talked about the organizations involved and some of the topics to be covered.

Police and Fire Department, Farmers Electric, and MU Extension
With fire safety, seatbelt safety, chemical safety and more.

Ripley says by providing this safety and education information in a fun, interactive and professional manner, they hope to increase knowledge of farm-related safety issues that can be drawn upon for a lifetime.
