Scams and Fraud a Focus of Chillicothe Police Department

Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples says the department has seen a drop in violent crimes in the community over the past couple of years, but there are other areas that are seeing an increase.  Chief Maples says one area is preying on the vulnerable.

Scams and frauds targeting the elderly.

Maples gave an example of a recent case.

They contacted Maples, and the department got the transaction stopped.

The chief explained his philosophy on scams.

I wouldn’t trust anybody if it sounds too good to be true.

He says if you are not sure, hang up and call the police to ask questions.
