Severe Weather Preparedness – Lightning

This is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Missouri. The National Weather Service Meteorologist Hallie Bova says today’s topic is Lightning.  Bova says Thunder is often heard ahead of seeing lightning.

Lightning can strike up to 10 miles away and still affect you.

Bova says if you are outside, find shelter in a building or vehicle, not under trees.

If you have outdoor activities planned, be aware of the potential for lightning and plan accordingly.
