Updated And Expanded Winter Weather Warnings And Advisories

Several winter weather warnings and advisories have been issued by the National Weather Service.

An Extreme Cold Warning is issued for north Missouri, including a few counties in the local area.  From midnight tonight to Noon on Friday, the Extreme Cold Warning is issued, including for Grundy and Sullivan Counties.  This includes dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero expected.

A Winter Weather Advisory is also issued from 6:00 pm Friday to 6:00 pm Sunday for portions of NW Missouri, including Daviess and Linn counties in the KCHI listening area, with very cold wind chills as low as 19 below zero expected and snowfall totals of 2-4 inches.

The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.  Cover all exposed skin and dress in layers.  Mittens are better than gloves, and use a face mask if possible.

A Winter Storm Warning is issued from Friday at 6:00 pm to Sunday at 6:00 pm.  Heavy snow is expected, with 4-6 inches possible in north central and northwest Missouri.  This includes Caldwell, Carroll, Chariton, and Livingston Counties in the local area.
