Voters Approve Livingston Co. 911 Dispatch Sales Tax

Livingston County voters approved the 3/8% sales tax to fund the 911 Central Dispatch Services for the county.  The totals were 777 yes to 155 no.  Only 9.9% of Livingston County registered voters cast a ballot in this election.

Livingston County Presiding Commissioner Ed Douglas says he is pleased for the voter support.

Tried to inform voters how important this was to the county.

Douglas speculated on what is next for the new 911 Dispatch System.

Funding may take about 6 months to start coming in, but they will work to select the board fairly soon.

He says the dispatch center will be run out of the police department as it is now, so the transition when the new group takes over should be fairly smooth.
